Holistic Hydration

Did you know that while our bodies can endure up to 8 weeks without food, they can only go a few days without water? Water constitutes a significant portion, about 55%-60%, of our total body mass, and its role extends far beyond merely quenching our thirst.

Water serves various essential functions in our bodies:

  • Enhancing oxygen delivery to cells

  • Absorbing shocks to protect joints and organs

  • Lubricating our joints for smooth movement

  • Transporting vital nutrients throughout the body

  • Regulating body temperature effectively

  • Facilitating cell-to-cell communication

  • Enabling cellular hydration for optimal health

  • Removing waste products efficiently

  • Maintaining the normal electrical properties of cells

  • Moistening oxygen to ease breathing

  • Flushing out toxins and impurities

  • Empowering the body's natural healing processes

  • Cushioning and safeguarding bones and joints

  • Preventing tissues from adhering

  • Facilitating the digestive process

Surprisingly, approximately 50% of U.S. adults are not consuming the right amount of water; some are even drinking too much. If you find yourself rushing to the restroom every hour, you might be overdoing it, and if your urine appears bright yellow, you likely need more water. Unfortunately, relying solely on tap water is insufficient for staying adequately hydrated in today's world.

In a previous blog post, I emphasized the significance of minerals. It's crucial to recognize that our bodies don't produce minerals, which is why it is so important to make sure you are consuming them. Back in the day, these minerals were naturally present in the water. Unfortunately, many minerals have been removed from U.S. water sources. Therefore, it's vital to ensure we supplement our water with these essential minerals to maintain our overall health and well-being.
